I have a 1950s pair of Electro voice cabinets with sp15s..I want to replace them with altec 15"..Anyone recommend a speaker that would work wityhour breaking the bank..under $500/pair..thanks
If you can find a couple of blown 418's send them to Great Plains Audio. Can be reconed as 416's. Even if you have to pay 75 each blown, plus recones, you should come in under your 500 limit with shipping both ways. And you will have close to new speakers...Don't pay more than 75 for frames, have seen them for 25. My brother might even have one. Cheaper to buy singles...usually.

Agreed ! If you can buy singles on eBay you will usually get a better deal than buying pairs.Pairs will always get top dollar. You can get a brand new pair from GPA for a pair of 416-8c's for $560 or for singles $280 each + shipping.For me it is sometimes worth spending a little extra than dealing with some sellers on eBay.And they are BRAND NEW !
